GG: Homer Siberius

Why GG called the authorative critic Harold Schonberg
"Homer Siberius"? I mean, etymologically?
Is it just because theis initials HS accord each other?
Might be a stupid quesion.
But why Homer? Why Siberius?
Any native speakers' intuition?
Does the nickname make you laugh?

Regards,

P.S. The nickname is found in the GG letter to Diana Menuhin
(April 25, 1966 in *Letters*, p.88),
and in the "Conference at Port Chilkoot"(GGR, pp.416-424).
Do you find it anywhere else too?
