Re: GLENN GOULD BASHING!! (fwd)

The only such public disagreement between Bernstein and Gould (mentioned by
frank@clark.net and info requested by Dean Lampe) was over GG's
interpretation of Brahms concerto in D minor, Carnegie Hall,1962. This
performance, however, to the best of my knowledge, was never released as a
recording (though a tape of it does exist.) Gould wanted the Brahms performed
extremely slowly, and Bern. disagreed with that. Before the performance he
made a brief announcement to the audience, explaining what they were about to
do with the piece. He also added that he was not quite in favor of the
change, but was all for experimentation. Gould, according to Otto Friedrich's
bio, had no problem with Bern.'s introduction, and it caused no bad blood
between them.
Is there another such event?
