GG: Gould and the Western Society

>Gould has often been portrayed as an excentric, sometimes even as alunatic. In my paper I want to show that this was not the case.

I think that you may be taking on a tough assignment here. On the one hand, I can't recall offhand reading any
serious contention that Gould was a lunatic. On the other hand, the evidence seems to me to be overwhelming
that he was indeed eccentric. Example - if you'll accept a brief and partial dictionary definition of
"eccentric" as "deviating from usual practice, or established forms," then such obvious and undeniable
characteristics as conducting much of his waking activity during nighttime hours and much of his social
interaction via the telephone surely mark him as eccentric.
